The xml is the thing that selects the sprite animations for like arrow keys and stuff. You have to use the hscript so it will know how to regester the xml code that selects the animation in the png. I am not big on coding but I do you have to code this stuff.

They cant remove the Hscript because without it the character will not work. If you are going to use hscript, go to your characters xml file, and go to Dad's hscript, and rename everything. If you have something with alternate animations, use the christmas parents hscript and rename it. If it doesnt work then I cant help you.
